Jan 9, 2009 - 6:04 AM (7) STANFORD 112, WASHINGTON 35STANFORD, California (Ticker) -- Jayne Appel led six players in double figures with 21 points as No. 7 Stanford captured the program's most lopsided win, 112-35, over Washington.
All 11 players who entered the game scored for Stanford (12-3, 3-0 Pac-10), which shot 57 percent from the field and made 14-of-25 attempts from 3-point range.
The Cardinal led 62-15 at halftime.
Jeanette Pohlen added 16 points and eight assists while Jillian Harmon scored 14.
Washington (5-7, 1-1) sank just 21 percent (13-of-62) of its field-goal attempts and committed 22 turnovers. Sarah Morton was the leading scorer for the Huskies with seven.
BOSTON COLLEGE 65, (22) GEORGIA TECH 64 (OT)
ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Mickel Picco's layup in the final seconds lifted Boston College to a 65-64 win in overtime over 22nd-ranked Georgia Tech.
Iasia Hemingway and Jacqua Williams converted layups to hand Georgia Tech a two-point lead, but Picco made her sixth hoop of the game, giving her 14 points and the Eagles the win.
Carolyn Swords led Boston College (12-3, 1-0 ACC) with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Stefanie Murphy added 17 and 11.
Alex Montgomery had 22 to lead the Yellow Jackets (12-3, 0-1), with Hemingway and Williams adding 13 and 12 respectively.
(15) MARYLAND 92, (25) WAKE FOREST 65
COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- Kristi Toliver led five players in double figures with 22 points as 15th-ranked Maryland routed No. 25 Wake Forest, 92-65.
Lynetta Kizer added 17 for the Terrapins, who shot 51 percent (36-of-70), including 13-of-27 from 3-point range.
Maryland (13-2, 1-0 ACC) held a 43-32 rebounding edge to win its sixth straight game, one shy of its season high.
Corinne Groves led Wake Forest (12-2, 0-1) with 17 points. Camille Collier and Brooke Thomas scored 12 apiece while Alex Tchangoue added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
(2) NORTH CAROLINA 83, CLEMSON 74
CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) -- Rashanda McCants had 17 points and Jessica Breland and Italee Lucas contributed double-doubles to lead top-ranked North Carolina past Clemson, 83-74.
Breland had 13 points and 13 rebounds while Lucas added 12 and 12 for the Tar Heels (15-0, 1-0 ACC), who led for the entire second half until Clemson took a 65-64 lead with 5:04 left.
But North Carolina went on an 18-6 run, led by eight points from Chay Shegog, to put the game away. The Tar Heels made just 1-of-11 from behind the arc and committed 16 turnovers.
Clemson (10-5, 1-1) was outrebounded 50-38 in dropping its third game in its last five. Bryelle Smith scored 17 to lead the Tigers while Whitney Hood and Lele Hardy added 16 and 15 respectively.
(8) AUBURN 80, SOUTH CAROLINA 76
COLUMBIA, South Carolina (Ticker) -- DeWanna Bonner had 29 points to help eighth-ranked Auburn remain unbeaten with an 80-76 triumph over South Carolina.
Whitney Boddie scored 21 and Alli Smalley converted all four of her free-throw attempts in the final 26 seconds as the Tigers (16-0, 1-0 SEC) held off the Gamecocks' late rally.
Brionna Dickerson led South Carolina (8-6, 0-1) with 19 points while Demetress Adams and Lakeisha Sutton scored 16 apiece.
(9) CALIFORNIA 68, WASHINGTON STATE 45
BERKELEY, California (Ticker) -- Ashley Walker had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead ninth-ranked California to a 68-45 triumph over Washington State.
Alexis Gray-Lawson added 10 points and 10 boards for the Golden Bears (12-2, 3-0 Pac-10, who held a 46-27 rebounding edge.
Washington State (7-6, 0-2) had just seven assists while shooting 33 percent (20-of-60) from the field, including 1-of-19 from 3-point range. Jazmine Perkins led the Cougars with 14 points and Katie Appleton added 11.
(11) TENNESSEE 69, KENTUCKY 64
KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Shekinna Stricklen scored 18 points and 11th-ranked Tennessee used a late 13-2 run en route to a 69-64 victory over Kentucky.
The Lady Volunteers (12-2, 1-0 SEC) trailed, 57-52, with 5:20 remaining in the game after a layup by Brittany Edelen. But the Wildcats scored just two points in nearly five minutes of action as Tennessee won its fifth straight game.
Glory Johnson added 14 points and Alicia Manning scored 13 while each grabbed six rebounds for the Lady Vols.
Carly Morrow had 16 points to lead Kentucky (10-6, 0-1) while Edelen scored 13 and Amber Smith 12 and 8 eight assists.
(17) OHIO STATE 55, WISCONSIN 42
MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Jantel Lavender registered 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead 17th-ranked Ohio State past Wisconsin 55-42.
Star Allen added 11 and 12 as the Buckeyes (13-2, 4-0 Big Ten) won their seventh straight game behind a great defensive effort that limited Wisconsin to just 26 percent (13-of-51) from the field.
Lin Zastrow led the Badgers (12-4, 2-3) with 11 points and six rebounds.
(19) FLORIDA 80, MISSISSIPPI STATE 60
GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Sha Brooks scored 18 of her 31 points in a decisive second half to lead 19th-ranked Florida to an 80-66 triumph over Mississippi State.
With the game tied, 44-44, just 3:43 after halftime, Brooks - who also had six rebounds and six assists - scored six points during an 8-0 run as the Gators (15-1, 1-0 SEC) held the Bulldogs scoreless for over six minutes and took the lead for good.
Marshae Dotson added 17 points, nine rebounds and five steals for Florida, which has won 15 straight since dropping a season-opening shocker to Florida Gulf Coast on November 14.
Tysheka Grimes scored 19 points to lead the Bulldogs (12-3, 0-1). Mississippi State, which has lost three of four since opening the season 10-0, also received 17 points and nine rebounds from Chanel Mokango.
(24) VANDERBILT 85, ALABAMA 76
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (Ticker) -- Jennifer Risper led six players in double figures with 17 points as 24th-ranked Vanderbilt defeated Alabama, 85-76.
Christina Wirth collected 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Commodores jumped out to a 47-22 halftime lead.
Vanderbilt (12-4, 1-0 SEC), which shot 55 percent (31-of-56) from the field, also got 13 points from Merideth Marsh and 12 apiece from Hannah Tuomi and Jence Rhoads.
Ericka Russell led the Crimson Tide (12-4, 0-1) with 25 points and Courtney Strauthers added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
