Star UCLA defender Moore leaves with concussion
Oct 3, 2009 - 11:43 PM STANFORD, Calif.(AP) -- UCLA free safety Rahim Moore, the nation's leader in interceptions and passes defended heading into Saturday, suffered a concussion against Stanford after making a late hit.He left the game early in the second quarter and didn't return in the Bruins' 24-16 loss. Coach Rick Neuheisel said afterward he hopes Moore will return next week against Oregon.
"Hopefully he's going to be OK," Neuheisel said. "He was just trying to make a play. I can't fault the officials."
Moore was called for a personal foul penalty for hitting Cardinal tight end Coby Fleener after a pass from Andrew Luck sailed way over Fleener's head at the 13:09 mark of the second quarter.
Moore, a sophomore with five interceptions and nine passes defended, jarred his entire upper body when he hit Fleener.
No one has shouted yet.
