Meineke Bowl moves up a spot in new deal with ACC
Nov 5, 2009 - 4:32 PM CHARLOTTE, N.C.(AP) -- The Meineke Bowl is moving up one spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference selection order in a new deal that runs through 2013.The Charlotte, N.C., bowl announced Thursday it will have the ACC's fourth pick after the Bowl Championship Series starting next year. The game has the fifth choice from the league this year in a matchup against a Big East school.
The Meineke Bowl announced a similar four-year extension with the Big East last month that gives it that league's third choice.
The new ACC order will also guarantee that the Meineke Bowl will not get the loser of the ACC championship game, which will also be played in Charlotte starting in 2010.
This year's Meineke Bowl is Dec. 26 at Bank of America Stadium.
