Utah QB Wynn done for season

Oct 11, 2011 - 3:09 AM Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Utah quarterback Jordan Wynn will undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder within the next two weeks.

Wynn, who was hurt during the first half of Utah's loss to Washington on October 1, will have a season-ending procedure for the second time. He had surgery on his right arm on December 13, 2010 and missed the Las Vegas Bowl.

"Obviously, this is disappointing news for Jordan and the entire team," said Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. "Jordan worked incredibly hard to come back from his shoulder surgery last winter and we are confident he will take the same approach with his rehab this time around. The good news is that he is eligible for a redshirt season."

Wynn started the first four games this season, and completed 66-of-116 passes for 727 yards and six touchdowns along with two interceptions.

Junior transfer Jon Hays took over for the injured Wynn in the second half against Washington and made his first NCAA start last week in a 35-14 loss against Arizona State.

Hays has connected on 28-of-47 throws for 355 yards with two TDs and four interceptions.

Utah (2-3) plays on the road against Pittsburgh this Saturday.
