Portland State QB close to Big Sky rushing mark
Oct 28, 2011 - 4:43 PM Portland, OR (Sports Network) - With four games remaining, Portland State senior Connor Kavanaugh needs only 33 yards to tie the Big Sky Conference's single season record for rushing yards.Kavanaugh, who ranks third in the conference in rushing with 653 yards, could surpass the record of 686 set by former Northern Arizona quarterback Lance Kriesien in 2007 on Saturday at Eastern Washington.
While running Portland State's pistol offense, Kavanaugh is averaging 93 yards per game on 7.7 yards per carry .
He has rushed for 1,557 yards in his career. The Big Sky record for career rushing yards by a quarterback is held Idaho's Ken Hobart with 1,826 yards from 1980-83.
