Jackson State extends Comegy's contract
Nov 30, 2011 - 7:45 PM Jackson, MS (Sports Network) - Jackson State University renewed football coach Rick Comegy's contract for two seasons through 2013, athletics director Dr. Vivian L. Fuller said on Wednesday.Comegy has a 41-26 record in six seasons with the Tigers. They were 9-2 this season, but were ineligible for the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship because of Academic Progress Report penalties.
"Coach Comegy and his staff have an excellent track record of on-the-field success at Jackson State," Fuller said. "Moving forward under his leadership, I expect the JSU Tigers to be champions in sports, in the classroom and in the Jackson community."
The 58-year-old Comegy, who led Jackson State to the 2007 SWAC title, will earn a salary of $191,580, which is a 3 percent increase over his previous salary.
