FIU headed to Beef O'Brady's Bowl

Dec 4, 2011 - 4:51 PM Miami, FL (Sports Network) - FIU has accepted an invitation to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Panthers will play in the December 20 contest against an undetermined opponent.

"On behalf of our great university, it is with great excitement that our football program accepts this bid to the Beef O' Brady's Bowl," said FIU head coach Mario Cristobal. "2011 has been another historical season for our program, and playing in a bowl right here in our home state is a tremendous opportunity for our student athletes and fans."

FIU finished the 2011 regular season at 8-4 and will play in a bowl game for the second straight year. The Panthers beat Toledo in the Little Caesars Bowl last year.
