Ianello joins Weis' staff at Kansas
Jan 3, 2012 - 9:07 PM Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Kansas has added Rob Ianello, who was recently fired from his position as Akron's head football coach, to its coaching staff.Ianello will serve as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.
Akron endured two disastrous seasons under Ianello, going 2-22. The Zips dropped their final eight games this year and ended the campaign with a 68-19 loss at Western Michigan.
Now Ianello is once again on a staff led by Charlie Weis, who was hired as Kansas' head coach in early December. Ianello was on Weis' staff at Notre Dame from 2005-09, serving as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator for the first four years. He was promoted to assistant head coach for offense during his final season with the Irish.
Ianello also coached with Wisconsin and Arizona.
