Sooners QB Jones staying for senior season
Jan 6, 2012 - 2:07 AM Norman, OK (Sports Network) - Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones, the Sooners' all-time leading passer, announced Thursday that he will return for his senior season. The possible top-10 pick has amassed 12,389 yards passing while wearing a Sooner uniform, while also holding the top spot with 93 career touchdown passes. Jones holds 21 school records in all and has posted a 30-8 record as a starter.
"I want to accomplish the goals that I set before I got here, and there is still a lot more to do," said Jones. "I want to make sure I've exhausted every effort in that area."
The lure of a national championship is also strongly on the signal-caller's mind.
"We hope to have another opportunity to make a title run," he said. "Most of the offensive line returns and we have several receivers and backs return too."
Jones threw for 4,469 yards and 29 touchdowns this season in guiding the Sooners to a 10-3 mark and an Insight Bowl crown.
