Sixteen from FCS to play in Battle of Florida
Jan 16, 2012 - 12:46 PM Boca Raton, FL (Sports Network) - College teammates will be on opposing teams Saturday when 16 players from the Football Championship Subdivision participate in the Battle of Florida All-Star Game at Florida Atlantic University.The game is for NFL draft-eligible players with Florida ties, regardless of a school's division. It will pit two legendary coaches against each other, Bobby Bowden of the North squad and Howard Schnellenberger of the South squad.
FCS players on the North aquad are Appalachian State cornerback DeAndre Presley, Bethune-Cookman defensive end Ryan Davis, Alabama State linebacker Nigel Carr, Jacksonville quarterback Josh McGregor, Georgia State offensive lineman Clyde Yandell and Morgan State tight end Lamont Bryant.
The South squad includes Bethune-Cookman linebackers Reggie Sandilands and Ryan Lewis, offensive lineman Natiel Curry and safeties Jean Fanor and Mike Williams; Flordia A&M offensive lineman Branden Curry; Georgia State offensive lineman LaDeven Kirkland and tight end Arthur Williams; Appalachian State running back Travaris Cadet; and Jacksonville wide receiver Josh Philpart.
The game will be broadcast by Fox College Sports. Kickoff is 8 p.m. ET.
