Former NFL player and Fresno State coach Boone dies
Jan 24, 2012 - 10:06 PM Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Former NFL player and Fresno State head coach JR Boone passed away in his sleep on Sunday at his home in Selma. He was 86.In six seasons as a running back and safety with the Bears, Packers and 49ers, Boone rushed for 497 yards and five touchdowns.
Boone was the head football coach of Fresno State from 1973-75 and went 10-24 before retiring in 1975.
