Gardner-Webb tabs Beathard as offensive coordinator
Mar 1, 2012 - 6:53 PM Boiling Springs, NC (Sports Network) - Kurt Beathard has accepted the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks position at Gardner-Webb.Bethard, the 49-year-old son of fomer NFL general manager Bobby Beathard, is a well-traveled coach with nearly 24 years of experience. Last year, he was an offensive assistant with the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League.
Beathard has been an offensive coordinator at Eastern Kentucky, Bucknell and Western Carolina. He also has coached at his alma mater, Towson, as well as Illinois, Pacific, Colgate, James Madison, Louisville, Bloomsburg and Catholic.
Gardner-Webb also is bringing in Kyle Dickerson (no relation to second-year head coach Ron Dickerson Jr.) to coach the running backs and Alan Hensell to coach the offensive line.
Gardner-Webb finished 4-7 overall, and 2-4 in the Big South Conference, last season.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will kick off the 2012 season on Sept. 1 against Wofford.
