Alabama State to play Bethune-Cookman in MEAC-SWAC Challenge
Mar 21, 2012 - 6:35 PM Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Alabama State's football team will be the Southwestern Athletic Conference's representative in the eighth annual MEAC- SWAC Challenge to be played Sept. 2 at the Florida Citrus Bowl.Bethune-Cookman had previously been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's representative.
The game, likely to be broadcast on ESPN2, is a season-opening matchup between schools from the two FCS conferences for historically black colleges and universities.
MEAC schools hold a 5-2 series lead.
Alabama State and Bethune-Cookman both finished 8-3 last season.
