Alcorn State football down to four finalists

Apr 21, 2012 - 9:51 AM Alcorn State, MS (Sports Network) - The four finalists for the Alcorn State head football coach's position will be on campus Monday for interviews.

The university's search committee announced on Friday the four finalists are Michael Armour, Fredrick Farrier, James Hopson and Todd McDaniel.

Armour is the offensive coordinator at the University of Northern Colorado and was part of Alcorn State's staff from 2008 to early 2011.

Farrier, the head coach at Kentucky State from 2005-09, works for the State of Kentucky in the Office of Employment and Training.

Hopson is the former defensive coordinator at the University of Memphis.

McDaniel is Alcorn State's defensive line coach and has served as interim coach since December, when first-year head coach Melvin Spears Jr. was put on administrative leave. Spears was later fired in February.

Alcorn State plans to announce the new head coach next Saturday following the team's spring game.

The Braves finished 2-8 last year, including 1-8 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
