Kollmorgen is Northern Iowa's season-opening starter
Aug 27, 2012 - 5:56 PM Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Missouri Valley Conference power Northern Iowa will start redshirt freshman quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin.The Jenks, Okla., native will become the fifth freshman in UNI history to start at quarterback.
The last time a freshman quarterback started a UNI season opener occurred on Aug. 30, 2001, when Tom Petrie led a 34-14 victory over Wayne State (Mich.).
Three weeks later, Petrie led the Panthers past FBS member Ball State, 42-39, on Sept. 22, 2001.
