West Virginia AD Luck gets extension
Oct 12, 2012 - 11:52 PM Morgantown, WV (Sports Network) - West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck agreed to a contract extension through 2017 on Friday.Luck began his tenure at the school on June 9, 2010, and was in the third year of his original five-year contract. The new deal increased his salary to $550,000 and there is also a performance bonus that could be as high as $150,000 per year, along with other incentives.
"Oliver Luck is a true leader," said West Virginia president Jim Clements. "He has brought stability, momentum and energy to his position. He is someone we want on our team for many more years to come."
Luck has brought about several major capital projects, hired several new head coaches and helped the athletic department raise over $22.7 million in fund- raising this year, the most ever for the school in one year.
"I appreciate the confidence that President Clements has placed in me and the entire athletic department team," Luck said. "We will continue to work hard as we transition into the Big 12, and will strive to represent this University and this State with the pride and passion each deserves. This is my alma mater and I am thrilled to serve her."
Luck is the father of Andrew Luck, the top overall pick of the 2012 NFL draft and quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts.
