ODU to play at North Carolina in 2013
Oct 16, 2012 - 7:51 PM Norfolk, VA (Sports Network) - Old Dominion's transition to the FBS next year will include an Oct. 12 game at the University of North Carolina.The contract with UNC, announced Tuesday, is for one year, with no additional games planned at this time.
ODU anticipates playing a mixed schedule of FBS and FCS opponents in 2013 as it works its way toward becoming a member of Conference USA in 2015.
"We are excited as a program to play North Carolina in 2013," ODU coach Bobby Wilder said. "As we witnessed in their 48-34 win vs. Virginia Tech this past Saturday, they are a good program that will only get better under first year head-coach Larry Fedora. Our goal as a program for 2013 is to play the top FBS programs in our region that have available dates on their schedule."
ODU previously announced two other 2013 games: at Norfolk State Oct. 26 and against UNC Charlotte Nov. 16.
