Montana suspends three football players
Oct 29, 2012 - 4:07 PM Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - University of Montana football coach Mick Delaney announced Monday that starters John Kanongata'a and Kjelby Oiland and reserve Nick Holt have been suspended for one game for an undisclosed violation of team rules. The trio will not play in Saturday's Big Sky Conference game at Weber State.
Kanongata'a is a starting linebacker and Oiland a starting center. Both are juniors.
Holt is a redshirt freshman linebacker.
"It is an unfortunate situation, but expectations are clear," Delaney said. "I will not go in to particulars about why the three were suspended, but I can say it does not involve law enforcement. I feel it is my responsibility to hold players accountable."
Montana (4-5) has to win its final two games - the Grizzlies host rival Montana State on Nov. 17 - to avoid its first losing season in 26 years.
