Manziel wins O'Brien Award
Dec 7, 2012 - 12:50 AM Lake Buena Vista, FL (Sports Network) - Texas A&M freshman Johnny Manziel has captured the Davey O'Brien Award, given to the nation's top quarterback.The redshirt freshman broke the SEC record for total offense by passing for 3,419 yards and rushing for 1,181 more while totaling 43 touchdowns.
During the Aggies first season in the SEC, Manziel guided the program to its best final BCS rankings since 1998 and a berth in the Cotton Bowl behind a 10-2 record, which included a road win over then-No. 1 Alabama on Nov. 10.
Manziel beat out Kansas State's Collin Klein and Ohio State's Braxton Miller for the honor.
