Report: Delaware to name Brock football coach
Jan 18, 2013 - 12:21 PM Newark, DE (Sports Network) - Delaware will name Rutgers offensive coordinator Dave Brock as its new head football coach on Friday, according to a published report. The News Journal reported late Thursday that Delaware players were told earlier in the day they would meet their new coach on Friday.
Delaware has been without a head coach since K.C. Keeler was fired on Jan. 7 following his 11th season.
Brock, 45, has been a collegiate coach for 22 years, but never as a head coach. He coached against Delaware's former conference rival, Hofstra, in 1995 and from 1997-2001.
Brock has spent 11 years on the FBS level, including stints at Temple, North Carolina, Kansas State and Boston College before his one season at Rutgers last year. He was on the Boston College staff from 2009-11 while new Delaware athletic director Eric Ziady was an assistant athletic director.
Brock played collegiately at Ferrum (Va.) College and graduated from Salisbury (Md.).
Keeler compiled an 88-52 record and led Delaware to the 2003 FCS (then NCAA Division I-AA) national title as well as appearances in the 2007 and 2010 national championship games.
The Delaware position is the only head coaching opening on the FCS level.
No one has shouted yet.
