Princeton DT Reid to play another season
Feb 6, 2013 - 5:53 PM Princeton, NJ (Sports Network) - Princeton All-America defensive tackle Caraun Reid will play another season with the Tigers and be classified for the 2014 NFL Draft instead of this year.He was granted another year of eligibility at Princeton because he sat out much of his sophomore year in 2010 with a pectoral injury.
The 6-foot-2, 305-pound Reid earned his second straight All-Ivy League first- team honor this past season as well as a second-team selection to The Sports Network FCS All-America Team.
While playing inside and often facing double-team blocking schemes, Reid still placed sixth in the Ivy League in sacks (5.5) and ninth in tackles for loss (9.5). He recorded 40 tackles and blocked three kicks.
"Caraun Reid may not have the same numbers as other players, but the coaches know his value on the defense," Princeton coach Bob Surace said. "Other guys have easier jobs because of the focus placed on Reid. He plays at such a high level, and he took over some games."
Reid had been considered a late-round selection for this year's NFL Draft.
