Austin Peay moves up game against Eastern Illinois

Jul 10, 2013 - 4:44 PM Clarksville, TN (Sports Network) - Austin Peay has moved up its home-opening football game against Eastern Illinois by two days to Thursday, Oct. 10. Kickoff is 7 p.m. ET

The change to the Ohio Valley Conference game was made because Austin Peay will have fall break during the Oct. 12 weekend.

The Governors, who have a new head coach in Kirby Cannon, open the season with five straight road games, with a bye week after the fourth game.

"Eastern Illinois did us a favor by agreeing to move our game to Thursday," Cannon said. "It creates a situation where we play short on practice going into that game. But felt like we needed a home game that our students could easily attend. With the (fall break) holiday on that Friday from school, the Thursday night matchup has a great chance to be well-attended and give us the support that we will want and need after being on the road for five straight (games)."
