Towson-EIU quarterfinal goes prime time
Dec 8, 2013 - 4:22 PM Charleston, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Towson against Eastern Illinois, the only FCS quarterfinal with two seeded teams, has been selected as the Friday night game on ESPN2. Kickoff at O'Brien Field will be just after 8 p.m. ET.EIU (12-1) is the No. 2 seed, Towson (11-2) the No. 7 seed. Both teams won second-round games on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools. It feature two of the three players invited to the announcement of the Walter Payton Award on Dec. 16, Towson running back Terrance West and EIU quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
The three other national quarterfinals will be played on Saturday. They are Coastal Carolina at top-seeded North Dakota State (noon, ESPN), Jacksonville State at No. 3 seed Eastern Washington (4 p.m., ESPN3) and New Hampshire at No. 6 seed Southeastern Louisiana (7 p.m., ESPN3).
