Nevada gives Ault contract extension through 2011

Aug 18, 2007 - 7:01 PM RENO, Nevada (Ticker) -- The University of Nevada on Saturday signed football coach Chris Ault to a contract extension through the 2011 season.

Ault, whose contract was set to expire in June 2009, received an additional three seasons on the contract, which currently pays $360,000 per year plus incentives. The deal also includes an annual increase of $25,000, in lieu of cost of living adjustments and merit increases, starting July 1, 2008.

Ault, a Nevada graduate who is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, has a career record of 185-78-1 in 22 years as a head coach, all at Nevada. He is 22-15 in his third stint as the Wolf Pack's coach and has taken the team to consecutive bowl appearances over the past two seasons. He is the fifth winningest active coaching in Division I-A.

"I certainly pleased to see that (athletics director) Cary Groth and (school president) Milton Glick have confidence in the direction of the program," Ault said. "We have set the foundation here and we want to keeping raising the bar for success of Nevada football."
