Austin Peay dismisses running back Williams

Apr 19, 2014 - 9:24 AM Clarksville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Austin Peay State University said it has dismissed leading returning rusher Omar Williams from the football team for academic reasons on Friday.

Williams rushed for 636 yards on 157 carries as a freshman last season.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound native of Memphis took over as the starter for the final four games after Tim Phillips suffered a torn bicep against UT Martin. He had four 100-yard rushing performances for the season, including 179 against Jacksonville State.

Austin Peay, an Ohio Valley Conference member, finished 0-12 in coach Kirby Cannon's first season last year.
