Austin Peay dismisses running back Williams
Apr 19, 2014 - 9:24 AM Clarksville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Austin Peay State University said it has dismissed leading returning rusher Omar Williams from the football team for academic reasons on Friday.Williams rushed for 636 yards on 157 carries as a freshman last season.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound native of Memphis took over as the starter for the final four games after Tim Phillips suffered a torn bicep against UT Martin. He had four 100-yard rushing performances for the season, including 179 against Jacksonville State.
Austin Peay, an Ohio Valley Conference member, finished 0-12 in coach Kirby Cannon's first season last year.
