Possible Green-Beckham transfer to Eastern Illinois unclear

Apr 30, 2014 - 12:29 AM (SportsNetwork.com) - A published report on Tuesday said former Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham will likely transfer to Eastern Illinois University to continue his football career.

However, Green-Beckham's father, John Beckham, later denied the 247Sports.com report to the Columbia (Mo.) Daily Tribune.

Green-Beckham was dismissed from Missouri's football program on April 11 after a string of legal incidents. Most recently, prosecutors decided not to charge him in a burglary investigation.

Green-Beckham, from St. Louis, was considered one of the nation's top high school prospects in 2012 while playing in Springfield, Mo.

At Missouri, the 6-foot-6, 225-pound standout caught 59 passes for 883 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore this past season. He had 28 receptions for 395 yards and five touchdowns in 2012.

He would be eligible to play immediately at EIU, which has a new head coach in Kim Dameron, who took over the two-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champions after Dino Babers was hired at Bowling Green in December.

The 247Sports report also said former Kentucky quarterback Jalen Whitlow is likely transferring to Eastern Illinois. The Panthers are replacing veteran signal caller Jimmy Garoppolo, who won the Walter Payton Award as FCS player of the year last season.
