Crews work to fill sinkhole at Austin Peay
May 20, 2014 - 4:52 PM Clarksville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Construction crews will use concrete and rock to fill a sinkhole that opened inside Austin Peay State University's Governors Stadium. The sinkhole was discovered about a month ago in the north end zone during a project to replace the main stadium building. The size reportedly was about 3 feet by 5 feet when it started, but workers had to dig a much larger hole -- about 40 feet deep and 40 feet wide -- to locate stable bedrock.
Once the sinkhole grew to the larger size Monday, it drew national attention.
The plan is for the sinkhole to be filled by the end of the week.
The budget for the stadium project included funding for sinkholes. The area is susceptible to them.
