Washington QB Miles suspended for opener
Jul 25, 2014 - 12:11 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Washington Huskies quarterback Cyler Miles has been suspended for the season-opener at Hawaii on Aug. 30 after he was reportedly linked to a pair of assaults on the school's campus following the Super Bowl.Miles, who reportedly served a three-month suspension but was not charged, played in eight games and made one start last year. He has been battling sophomore Jeff Lindquist and redshirt freshman Troy Williams to replace three- year starter Keith Price.
"I don't know exactly what was presented in the media. I just know he made a mistake," first-year Huskies coach Chris Petersen said Thursday during Pac-12 media days. "He owned up to it. Did everything right as we moved forward. You know, he's going to get a second chance.
Miles completed 37-of-61 passes for 418 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions last season.
"We've got to figure out our quarterback situation starting with Troy and Jeff, and how Cyler factors in there, so that will be interesting," Petersen said. "That's part of the challenge and fun of the job. You've got to have a quarterback that's playing at a high level or that whole offense will struggle."
Miles is the only quarterback on the Huskies roster to have started a game.
No one has shouted yet.
