USC's Kessler undergoes toe surgery

Sep 2, 2014 - 8:37 PM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - USC quarterback Cody Kessler did not practice on Tuesday after having a minor procedure performed on one of his toes.

Trojans head coach Steve Sarkisian told reporters afterward that Kessler is scheduled to practice on Wednesday and is in no danger of missing 14th-ranked USC's Pac-12 showdown at No. 13 Stanford on Saturday.

"We expect him to be full go (Wednesday) and ready to go for the game," said Sarkisian. "It obviously didn't affect his play on Saturday."

Kessler sustained the injury during the Trojans' season opener against Fresno State last Saturday, but played nearly the entire game and accounted for five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing) in USC's 52-13 blowout win over the Bulldogs.

The junior totaled a career-best 394 yards on 25-of-37 passing to earn Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors.
