Accuser of Florida QB Harris drops complaint

Oct 10, 2014 - 9:40 PM Gainesville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Florida quarterback Treon Harris has been cleared to rejoin the football team after the woman who accused him of sexual assault rescinded her complaint on Friday.

Harris had been suspended from all team activities and barred from campus on Monday following an investigation by university police over an alleged sexual assault of a female student in a residence hall early Sunday morning.

The university released a statement Friday which said that the woman had decided not to pursue criminal charges against Harris. Shortly after, Gators head coach Will Muschamp announced that the true freshman has been reinstated, though he will not play in Saturday's game against LSU.

"We have been notified that the University and legal process is complete," said Muschamp in a statement. "Treon has been reinstated to the team, but he will not play Saturday.

"This has been a learning experience for everyone involved. Treon has been honest with me throughout the process and is looking forward to rejoining his teammates."

Harris replaced starting quarterback Jeff Driskel in the third quarter of the Gators' game at Tennessee this past Saturday and helped rally Florida to a 10-9 win.

"I wanna thank everybody who supported me through this whole situation with the prayers and the love," Harris said on his Instagram account.
