Scott named Norfolk State football coach

Dec 16, 2014 - 9:15 PM Norfolk, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Virginia is for loving Latrell Scott.

Scott was named Norfolk State's new head football coach on Tuesday after he previously led the Richmond and Virginia State programs and coached at three other programs in Virginia.

Scott reportedly received a four-year contract in replacing Pete Adrian, who retired in November following 10 seasons and a 54-60 record at the helm of the program.

Scott went 19-4 with two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Northern Division regular-season titles over the last two seasons at Virginia State. This season, the Trojans won their first outright CIAA championship since 1996 and Scott earned conference coach of the year honors.

Scott awas Richmond's coach in 2010, finishing 6-5. His overall record as a head coach is 25-9.

Scott also served as an assistant coach at James Madison (2012), Virginia (2009), Tennessee (2008), Richmond (2005-07), VMI (2002-04), Western Carolina (2001) and Fork Union Military Academy (1999-2000).
