Prairie View tabs Simmons as football coach
Dec 16, 2014 - 8:52 PM Prairie View, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Prairie View A&M named Willie Simmons as its new head football coach on Monday.He spent the last three season as the offensive coordinator at Alcorn State. This season, the Braves won the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship with a high-powered offeense led by quarterback John Gibbs Jr., the SWAC's co- offensive player of the year.
Prior to Alcorn State, Simmons spent five seasons at Middle Tennessee State.
He is a former quarterback at Clemson.
Prairie View finished with a 5-5 record, including a 5-4 SWAC mark, this past season under Heisham Northern. He was 19-25 in four seasons leading the Panthers.
