Report: Bethune's Jenkins will coach Alabama State
Dec 16, 2014 - 9:24 PM Montgomery, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Highly successful Bethune-Cookman football coach Brian Jenkins has agreed to become the new head coach at Alabama State, according to a report Tuesday.FootballScoop.com said multiple sources confirmed the hiring at the Southwestern Athletic Conferene university..
Jenkins, 43, has compiled a 46-14 record over the last five seasons at Bethune- Cookman. He won three Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference coach of the year awards and led three FCS playoff squads in that time.
Jenkins has been a college assistant at Eastern Illinois, Bowling Green, Louisiana-Lafayette and Rutgers.
Alabama State did not renew coach Reggie Barlow's contract after a 7-5 season. He was 49-42 in eight seasons with the Hornets.
