Iowa WR Brodell out for season with hamstring injury

Sep 25, 2007 - 9:12 PM IOWA CITY, Iowa (Ticker) -- Iowa wide receiver Andy Brodell will miss the rest of the season with a torn hamstring, the school announced Tuesday.

Brodell was injured last Saturday during Iowa's 17-13 loss at Wisconsin. He caught 13 passes for 96 yards this season.

"The news (concerning Brodell) isn't quite good," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said. "I think we're going to lose him for the season."

A junior, Brodell racked up an Alamo Bowl-record 159 receiving yards in a 26-24 loss to Texas last year.

The Hawkeyes' receiving corps now needs bigger contributions from redshirt freshmen James Cleveland and Derrell Johnson-Koulianos and true freshman Colin Sandeman.

Iowa also will be without tight end Tony Moeaki, who will miss at least two weeks with a dislocated left elbow and broken bone in his left hand.

"It looks like we're going to be without Tony Moeaki for a couple weeks here certainly," Ferentz said.
