Dunne stars in UNI spring game

Apr 25, 2015 - 10:00 AM Cedar Falls, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Purple reigned in the Northern Iowa spring football game Friday night.

Redshirt freshman Eli Dunne threw for 269 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Purple team to a 49-6 victory over the White at the UNI-Dome.

Dunne completed 18 passes, including a pair of scores to both Marcus Weymiller (five receptions for 98 yards) and Logan Cunningham (five receptions for 61 yards).

Also for the Purple, former Rutgers running back Savon Huggins combined for 110 yards from scrimmage with one touchdown.

Junior Matt Easley scored all six points for the White with 52- and 26-yard field goals, while Jordan Webb collected a game-high nine tackles.

Last year, Northern Iowa reached the second round of the FCS playoffs and finished with a 9-5 record and a No. 10 final ranking in The Sports Network FCS Top 25.

Coach Mark Farley's Panthers will open their 2015 schedule on Sept. 5 with a visit to Iowa State.
