Stanford QB Ostrander out for USC game

Oct 3, 2007 - 12:51 AM STANFORD, California (Ticker) - Stanford was already facing a tough task this Saturday and it got even tougher on Tuesday.

The team announced that quarterback T.C. Ostrander will not be available for the Cardinal's match up against No. 2 USC on Saturday after suffering a seizure Sunday afternoon at a Palo Alto restaurant.

Ostrander was immediately taken to Stanford Hospital, where he underwent a battery of tests. While all tests have come back normal, Ostrander will not play as a precautionary measure.

Sophomore Tavita Pritchard has been named the starting quarterback.

Ostrander was watching his former teammate Trent Edwards play for the Buffalo Bills when he had a seizure at Gordon Biersch Restaurant in downtown Palo Alto. He was taken to Stanford Hospital and discharged later that day.

"We are obviously happy for T.C. that all the tests have come back normal," Cardinal coach Jim Harbaugh said. "As a precautionary measure, he will not suit up Saturday at USC."

Ostrander attended classes at Stanford on Monday and will be attending Saturday's game in Los Angeles.

A fifth-year senior, who was born at Stanford Hospital, Ostrander is in his first season as the Cardinal's full-time starter at quarterback. Through four games, he has completed 90-of-166 passes for 1,065 yards and six touchdowns.
