Big games for Stanford, Utah in Pac-12 this week

Nov 12, 2015 - 5:11 PM After more than two months of games, at least one of the Pac-12's two divisions could be decided this weekend.

No. 7 Stanford can lock up the North Division and solidify its College Football Playoff standing by beating Oregon. In the South, No. 10 Utah still leads, although Southern California and UCLA are right behind the Utes.

Here's what else to look for in the Pac-12 this week:

GAME OF THE WEEK: Oregon at Stanford. The Cardinal (8-1, 7-0 Pac-12) climbed four spots to No. 7 in the second College Football Rankings with last week's win over Colorado. The victory also put Stanford on the verge of the Pac-12 North title. The Cardinal can clinch it Saturday at home, but it won't be easy. After a couple of early stumbles, the Ducks (6-3, 4-2) have been playing better of late, winning three straight games. Oregon also has won 10 of the past 13 games in the series with Stanford and four of the past six in Northern California. The Ducks' only shot at winning the North is to win their final three games and have California beat Stanford.

BEST MATCHUP: Utah at Arizona. The Utes (8-1, 5-1) moved up to No. 10 in the CFP ranking and the AP Top 25. A game against No. 18 UCLA on Nov. 21 looms large for the Utes, but they can't overlook Arizona. The Wildcats have been inconsistent this season, but still have a dangerous offense and are 3-1 against Utah in Pac-12 games. Utah has a one-game lead over UCLA and USC in the North.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Pac-12 has six teams already bowl eligible: Stanford, Utah, UCLA, Washington State, Oregon and USC. California and Arizona could join them with a win this week. ... ULCA kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn needs one point to tie former Bruin John Lee's Pac-12 career record of 390 points, set from 1982-85. ... Arizona State's D.J. Foster had seven catches last week against Washington State to set the Pac-12 record with a catch in 49 consecutive games. It's also the longest streak in the FBS.

IMPACT PLAYER: Devontae Booker, Utah. The senior ran for 150 yards last week against Washington, his sixth 100-yard game of the season. He also eclipsed 1,000 yards for the season (1,116) to become the 15th player in school history to reach the mark. Arizona has trouble stopping the run at times this season, so don't be surprised if those numbers go up quite a bit.
