Bryant to face diverse 2016 schedule

Feb 5, 2016 - 6:49 PM (STATS) - Bryant football hopes a diverse schedule will end with a return to contention in the Northeast Conference title race this year.

After being in the November chase two years ago, the Bulldogs were the NEC's preseason favorite last year only to slump to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in conference games.

Under coach Marty Fine, the team's schedule kicks off Sept. 3 when it hosts Division II Merrimack. The Bulldogs will also face Brown in a non-conference home game Sept. 17. NEC opponents Central Connecticut State (Sept. 24, homecoming), Wagner (Oct. 22) and Robert Morris (Nov. 5) will visit Bulldog Stadium as well.

The Bulldogs' road schedule is particularly difficult. It starts with their first-ever trip west of the Mississippi River on Sept. 10 at Montana State.

They also head north to Maine (Oct. 1), return to NEC play at Saint Francis (Oct. 15) and defending champion Duquesne (Oct. 29), step out of conference play again with a trip to Coastal Carolina (Nov. 12) for the second consecutive season and wrap up the regular season at Sacred Heart (Nov. 19).
