Meyer shares stage with 4 ex-Ohio State coaches at clinic
Apr 15, 2016 - 8:19 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Every living former Ohio State head coach shared a stage with current coach Urban Meyer at the school's annual clinic for high school football coaches. The lineup of speakers Friday included Jim Tressel, who coached the Buckeyes from 2001 to 2010 and was forced to resign after he withheld information from the school and the NCAA about possible violations by some of his players, who traded memorabilia and equipment for tattoos. Tressel is now president of Youngstown State University.
Earle Bruce (1979-87) and John Cooper (1988-2000) also spoke briefly at the event. Luke Fickell, an Ohio State assistant who served as head coach for the 2011 season, also attended.
Meyer says it's appropriate that former coaches are welcomed back with open arms, adding ''it's not like this in many places.''
