Georgia Tech WR Donley to transfer
Jan 26, 2008 - 7:27 AM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Georgia Tech has lost one of its top players from its 2007 recruiting class.According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday, wide receiver D.J. Donley has left school and said he will transfer.
The report stated that new Yellow Jackets coach Paul Johnson had approached Donley about switching to safety shortly after his arrival. Donley, however, claims that had nothing to do with his decision.
"It was just personal stuff," Donley told the newspaper. "It had nothing to do with (the suggested position change)."
The Folkston, Georgia native played in all 13 games last season, mainly serving on special teams. He made eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown with a pair of blocked punts and a fumble recovery.
Donley becomes the second Georgia Tech receiving weapon to transfer this offseason. Tight end Colin Peek, who had 25 receptions last season, transferred to Alabama.
No one has shouted yet.
