San Diego State announces coaching departures
Feb 8, 2008 - 1:58 AM SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- San Diego State coach Chuck Long announced on Thursday that a pair of assistants will not return to the program next season.Defensive line coach Joe Bob Clements has taken a similar position at Kansas and linebackers coach William Inge will serve in the same capacity at Cincinnati next season.
"We appreciate what coach Clements and coach Inge have done for us the past two seasons at San Diego State," Long said. "Two top-25 BCS teams have noticed their work here and people have recognized the progress our staff made so far in building this Aztec football program. We wish them the best in the future."
Clements is returning to his home state, where he played at Kansas State from 1994-98. Current Jayhawks coach Mark Mangino was an assistant during that time.
