Tulane promotes Gilbert

Feb 8, 2008 - 6:53 PM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Tulane coach Bob Toledo filled a vacancy on his staff Friday, promoting O'Neill Gilbert to defensive coordinator.

Gilbert replaces Thom Kaumeyer, who took a job with Kentucky on January 17.

Last season, Gilbert served as the Green Wave's defensive line coach.

"I'm looking forward to coaching the young talent we have on the defensive side of the ball," Gilbert said. "I'm excited about the recruiting class we just signed and we good about our returners."
