Central Florida WR Plancher dies
Mar 18, 2008 - 10:57 PM ORLANDO (Ticker) -- Central Florida freshman wide receiver Ereck Plancher died Tuesday after collapsing during a workout in preparation for the opening spring practice. He was 19.Plancher passed away at 11:51 am EDT, shortly after being taken to Florida Hospital East Orlando. The cause of death is not yet known.
"Ereck was a tremendous young man with a bright future. The entire UCF football family is saddened by the loss of Ereck," UCF coach George O'Leary said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this truly difficult time."
A native of Naples, Florida, Plancher took a knee during his workout before becoming unresponsive and rushed by ambulance to the hospital.
"We're still gathering some of that information at this point," UCF associate athletics director Joe Hornstein said in a statement.
No one has shouted yet.
