Nebraska reinstates OG Christensen

Sep 8, 2008 - 8:44 PM LINCOLN, Nebraska (Ticker) -- Nebraska senior offensive guard Andy Christensen was reinstated to the team Monday, coach Bo Pelini announced.

Last week, Christensen, 21, was found not guilty on a first-degree sexual assault charge stemming from his arrest in March in which alcohol was involved. He did plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges.

The alleged assault took place in a downtown bar in Lincoln.

Christensen had been suspended from any team activity for the past six months, although he was on the sideline for Saturday's 35-12 victory over San Jose State.

Pelini told Christensen and his family that the player will be subjected to a zero tolerance policy regarding alcohol and any off-the-field incidents.

"We do not take the misdemeanor charges against Andy lightly," Pelini said. "His actions were unacceptable for a player in our program. Andy was indefinitely suspended from our team while the legal process played out, including the first game of the season (against Western Michigan)."

Pelini indicated that Christensen will resume practicing and working out with the team this year.
