South Florida LB Mompremier to be released from hospital

Sep 21, 2008 - 7:13 PM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- South Florida linebacker Brouce Mompremier will be released from Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital after being cleared of any spinal injury, the school announced Sunday.

After colliding with teammate Carlton Williams in the third quarter of Saturday's 17-9 victory over Florida International, Mompremier was taken off the field on a stretcher and rushed to the emergency room at the hospital.

Momprier fell awkwardly to the turf after his head and neck appeared to bounce off Williams' body. He remained motionless on the field for 15 minutes and was monitored overnight at the hospital.

The senior was in stable condition following the game with movement in all of his extremities. He is expected to miss at least two games, the school announced.

Mompremier, who has started 16 of the Bulls' last 17 games, will meet with USF doctors this week to determine the specific nature of his injuries and a timetable for his return.
