Connecticut QB Lorenzen to miss 6-8 weeks

Sep 29, 2008 - 4:53 PM STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Connecticut has climbed back into the top 25, but it could be without starting quarterback Tyler Lorenzen for the remainder of the season.

Lorenzen suffered a broken right foot in Saturday's 26-21 victory over Louisville, and coach Randy Edsall said Monday that he will miss six to eight weeks.

A senior, Lorenzen has completed 52-of-90 passes for 551 yards with a touchdown and six interceptions this season. Last year, he was 197-of-347 for 2,367 yards with 13 TDs and six interceptions.

The 23rd-ranked Huskies are off to a 5-0 start for the second straight year, but the injury to Lorenzen puts even more of a burden on Donald Brown, the nation's leading rusher.

After Lorenzen went down in the second quarter against Louisville, Brown handled the bulk of the Huskies' offense, carrying 33 times for 190 yards and a score.

Sophomore Zach Frazer is in line to replace Lorenzen. He passed for 90 yards and a touchdown in relief last week.
