Iowa RB Greene to return against Michigan State

Sep 30, 2008 - 8:16 PM IOWA CITY, Iowa (Ticker) -- Iowa running back Shonn Greene is expected to play this weekend when the Hawkeyes face Michigan State, coach Kirk Ferentz announced Tuesday.

Greene suffered a head injury early in the fourth quarter of last week's 22-17 loss against Northwestern and did not return.

But Ferentz said Greene was cleared to practice on Tuesday.

"We'll be out there (Tuesday), Ferentz said. "(Greene will) be practicing, yeah."

Greene has rushed for 665 yards this season, the fourth-highest total in the country, and has five touchdowns in five games. The junior ranks sixth in the nation with 133.0 rushing yards per game and has averaged 6.7 yards per carry.

Saturday's game will set up a showdown of two of the country's best running backs in Greene and Michigan State's Javon Ringer, who has rushed for 897 yards and leads the nation with 12 TDs.
