Miami LB McCarthy out for season

Oct 5, 2008 - 6:48 PM CORAL GABLES, Florida (Ticker) -- Miami linebacker Colin McCarthy will miss the remainder of the season with an injured shoulder, Hurricanes coach Randy Shannon said Sunday.

McCarthy, a junior, has experienced shoulder problems since high school and aggravated the injury during last week's practice. The Clearwater, Florida native did not play in Saturday's 41-39 loss to Florida State.

"We thought it was a little stinger, but (McCarthy) was still aggravated," Shannon said. "We told him to go to the doctor to get X-rayed just to make sure. And that's when we found out."

McCarthy started Miami's first three games this season, recording 15 tackles and one sack.
