East Carolina WR Bryant suspended

Oct 8, 2008 - 10:32 PM GREENVILLE, South Carolina (Ticker) -- East Carolina junior wide receiver Jamar Bryant has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team policy, head coach Skip Holtz announced on Wednesday.

Bryant is the Pirates' leading receiver with 19 catches for 216 yards and three touchdowns. His 18-game start streak will come to an end when East Carolina (3-2) hosts Virginia (2-3) this Saturday.

"Jamar Bryant has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team policy," Holtz said.

The fourth-year coach did not address specifics of the suspension, but added "there is an expectation of conduct associated with being a member of the Pirate football program."

As a sophomore, Bryant led the team in receptions (48), receiving yards (704) and tied for the team lead in touchdowns (6).
