NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Following its first loss of the season, Vanderbilt will make a change at quarterback.

Mackenzi Adams likely will get his first start of the season Saturday when the 23rd-ranked Commodores take on No. 9 Georgia.

"We are probably going to go ahead and make a change with Mackenzi and Chris (Nickson)," Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson said. "Mackenzi will practice with the first group this week, and he will get the majority of the reps this week.

"In being said, that means he will play Saturday unless something very unusual happens in practice, but I don't anticipate that."

Nickson struggled during last Saturday's 17-14 loss to Mississippi State, completing 3-of-10 passes for 15 yards with an interception before being replaced early in the fourth quarter.

Adams, who led the Commodores to a 14-13 comeback win over Auburn the week before after replacing an injured Nickson, orchestrated a scoring drive Saturday but was intercepted on a potential game-winning drive.
